Event Info
Directions:
The Ride site is located at the Homestead Lavendar Farm located at 11640 Highway 215 Urbania, Hants Co., Nova Scotia B0N 2H0 which is about 15 minutes outside of Shubenacadie. If you are coming from Halifax or the Annapolis Valley take Highway 102 towards Truro and get off at Exit 10 and at the stop sign turn left towards Maitland. If you are coming from Truro or areas west or north of Truro, it is best to stay on Highway 102 towards Shubenacadie and take Exit 10. Turn right at the first stop sign off the exit and then turn left at the second stop sign onto Highway 215 towards Maitland. The ride site will be on your left and the entrance for the parking for the ride is just past the main entrance to Homestead Lavendar Farm - watch for signs that say ACTRA PARKING. DO NOT ENTER the driveway into the house and shop for the farm as the main driveway does not connect to the field where the trailers are to park.

Description / Notes:

This is a 12 mile Introduction to Endurance Ride (INE) therefore there is no maximum time allowed and riders may ride at their own pace. Riders and mounts will be judged according to ACTRA Rules but no placings or prizes will be awarded to participants. The purpose of an INE ride is to give riders and mounts experience in competing in an endurance type ride but for a shorter distance. The ride route will mainly be on gravel logging roads, but will include sections of woods trails that may require riders and mounts to slow down while navigating mud and other obstacles. All riders must be onsite and be ready to start pre-ride inspections by 9:30 am. Overnight camping is available with water provided for horses. There is no electrical or water hookups available at the ride site. Generators can be used but drinking water for human consumption must be provided by individuals attending the ride. All other supplies for horses and humans must be provided by participants. A porta-potty will be onsite as of Friday afternoon. The ride is open to all participants but you must be a member of a provincial equine sport organization for insurance purposes and all riders must wear a helmet. All riders should be familiar with ACTRA Rules for INE Rides as noted in our Rule Book which can be found on this website. Please send any inquiries and etransfers for payments to: kimcrowell01@bellaliant.net. All dogs must be kept on a leash when outside their trailer.

meals:
A light breakfast will be provided at 8:00 am at the ride site; a bagged lunch will be provided at the mid way hold and supper will be BBQ and salads at the ride camp once the last rider has completed the LD ride. The cost of meals for the riders is included in the entry fee. If you require additional meals, the cost is $10 per person and must be noted on the entry form for planning purposes.
